Online Billing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. How much is the convenience fee?
There is a $3.00 convenience fee per-transaction and a maximum payment amount for each transaction of $250.00
Farmers Electric does not receive any part of the convenience fee

  2. Why is there a fee?
Electronic payments are not "free". Card providers charge us for billings placed on a customers credit card. Financial institutions charge for the use of their systems in transferring funds.
Most merchants you purchase goods and services from add the fees they are charged into the prices of their goods and services. Grocery stores, retailers and restaurants add these fees into the prices you see - even if you pay cash, you are paying for these fees.
Farmers Electric rates do not allow us to include these fees in your bills. Our rates are regulated and approved by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.
The convenience fee is charged only to those customers who use the service.
